How to Shift Your Energy When it Feels “Off”

Have you ever looked at someone and just felt like her energy was off? You couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was, but you knew something needed shifting? Sometimes I see this in women who look like they have it all, but there’s a disquiet in their eyes that tells me they don’t know what’s wrong, but something isn’t matching up.

Quite often I see it in businesses.

For instance, I used to work with a business coach who was amazing. I loved our one on one sessions and came away from each one feeling energized and ready to take on the world. But then she started a group program in addition to her private coaching. On paper, it looked right. It had group support, accountability, guest experts, and of course the all important private Facebook group.

But it just wasn’t doing it for me.

I would recommend this coach to anyone for private coaching, but I just couldn’t recommend her group program.

Eventually I went to her for some private coaching at a time when I was feeling a big shift in my own life. The way I had been working with clients wasn’t feeling right to me. I needed a little permission, I guess, to shift my own energy.

Her permission came in the form of an admission. She opened up and told me what she had been afraid to say for months: that she was no longer enjoying the direction she was taking her business (i.e. the group program). She had decided to phase that out and go back to what lit her up: one on one work.

Hearing her say that was an AHA moment for me. It hit me that if I could feel that something was “off” from outside her business, then she certainly felt it from inside. And likewise if I was feeling that something was off in my own business, then for sure my readers and clients felt it too.

I wasn’t fooling anyone by trying to act like I had it all figured out when clearly I was just muddling through the fog.

Likewise, if you’re feeling a bit out of alignment, you can pretend to yourself and others that everything feels great. Or you can admit something is off and make an active choice to change it.

But what do you do when you don’t know WHAT’S off and you don’t know HOW TO FIX IT?
